Super Soul Sunday – Forgiveness
Today is The Lords day. Let’s practice what we ask of Him
Super Soul Sunday – Forgiveness. What is the true definition of forgiveness? As defined by the Greater Good Magazine “Psychologists generally define forgiveness as a conscious, deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or vengeance toward a person or group who has harmed you, regardless of whether they actually deserve your forgiveness.”
There are many things you can do to forgive someone, but the most important one is letting go of the anger. Anger only hurts you, ruins your frame of mind, makes you lash out at others, and denies YOU of happiness. So if it’s your goal to punish that other person, realize what you’re really doing is only harming yourself.
“Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
It’s actually more beneficial to you if you just free yourself from harboring anger. You don’t have to get an apology from the person, forget what they’ve done, or let them back into your life. Just tell them (or say it in prayer) – I FORGIVE YOU. With this, you remove the anger and lets it be know that “you’ve healed” and have moved on. Believe me – it’s like an ugly, heavy weight being lifted from your heart.
And be mindful – If the Lord can forgives us, then we an surely forgive others. Make a conscious effort today and practice what we tell the Lord in His prayer.
