I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights
An Equal World Is An Enabled World !! Countries around the world will celebrate International Women’s Day today – Sunday, March 8 – which is dedicated to honor the achievements of women throughout history and all across the globe. This is the day, this is the year – 2020, for women of all cultures and backgrounds, to join together for global action to achieve gender equality and human rights OF ALL WOMEN AND GIRLS.
How can you help? You can start by supporting the cause … whether it be donating to Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, or Time’s Up. You can make sure YOU VOTE !! Join a march for a cause !!
You can also bring awareness to women’s rights by dressing accordingly as the colors you choose to wear on International Women’s Day, will carry a meaning. Choose your color and what the color stands for:
RED – symbolizes POWER. It shows strength and power, and forces people to pay attention
PURPLE – symbolizes DIGNITY. This is the color of dignity, self-respect, and signifies bipartisanship. And according to the National Woman’s Party, “Purple is the color of loyalty, constancy to purpose, unswerving steadfastness to a cause.”
WHITE – symbolizes PURITY. Back in the suffragette movement, women were strongly encouraged to wear this color as a symbolism of purity and virtue and to show they were “good people” too. And if they were “good people” too, why shouldn’t they have the right to vote !!
GREEN – symbolizes HOPE. Another signature color of the suffragette movement.
PINK – symbolizes FEMININITY. According to societal norms, pink is unapologetically feminine, and it represents compassion and love.
BLACK – symbolizes SOLIDARITY. This is a powerful, respectful color, which is why it has become the color of the Time’s Up movement.
So come on ladies. Which color will you be wearing today?
