How to Apply for $1,500 Utility Assistance
How to Get Help with Utility Bills. Today more families are struggling to make ends meet than ever before. They’re struggling with their rent, with putting food on the table, with credit card debt, and with their utility payments.
And because we seem to be having an “artic” winter with temps hovering around the 0-10° range EVERYWHERE, now is not the time to have to worry about your heating bill, or even worse – if your heat will be turned off.
HOW TO APPLY FOR $1,500 UTILITY ASSISTANCE
Well, I’ve got some good news for you. Congress just passed a spending bill to avoid a government shutdown, which included an extra $5 Billion to help with utility bills … particularly for heating bill expenses. They’ve made the requirements for individuals in need, to be eligible for a $1,500 grant easier along with the application process.
LIHEAP – LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The program that will help with your heating bills is called LIHEAP, a Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which is funded by the US Government but administered at a state, regional or local level.
Explore whether you or a loved one qualifies for energy assistance by visiting the LIHEAP website and contacting your state or local administrators. You can do this by clicking the LHEAP Clearinghouse link and searching for your state or territory to find your state contacts.
No one should be forced to live in a cold home and no one should have to worry about having their heat turned off. There’s no shame in asking for help – especially from your government as they are here to help !!
Best wishes to you all and please stay warm during this brutal winter season.
