So lets address the 6 top questions regarding Watermelons and how it benefits the body:
1.Does Watermelon Detox your Kidneys?
Watermelon is a natural diuretic which helps increase the flow of urine, but does not strain the kidneys like alcohol and caffeine.
2. Can Watermelon Cleanse your Colon?
Watermelon contains lots of water (90-92%) with the rest being fiber, which are both important for healthy digestion. And when you eat water-rich and fiber-rich fruits and vegetables, the high dietary fiber means more roughage goes in your body, will promote normal bowel movements, hence keeping your colon clean.
3. Does watermelon detox your liver?
Watermelon helps the liver process ammonia (waste from protein digestion) which eases strain on the kidneys while getting rid of excess fluids. Rich in potassium, watermelon is a great natural electrolyte and helps regulate the action of nerves and muscles in the body
4. Will Watermelon Give you Gas?
Watermelon is high in fructose, a naturally occurring sugar that is often incompletely absorbed by our GI system, leading to gas and stomach bloat. So yes, eating too much watermelon will probably give you gas.
5. Is Watermelon an Anti inflammatory?
The lycopene in watermelon makes it an anti-inflammatory fruit, and this lycopene is an inhibitor for various inflammatory processes which also works as an antioxidant to neutralize free radicals.
6. Does Watermelon Help You Lose Belly Fat?
Some have said that because watermelon contains 90-92% water and the rest fiber, those two combined help fill you up and not crave foods. I’m not sure if there’s any scientific data to back this up, but it may just work for some.
And now the benefits of Cucumbers and why you should mix them in with the watermelon smoothie.
HEALTH BENEFITS OF CUCUMBERS
Great thing about cucumbers – they are high in water and fiber and have almost no calories (kind of like watermelon). 1 cucumber will help burn extra calories by propelling the digestion process. They are also very high in Vitamin C and K, and the nutrients Magnesium, Potassium and Manganese; contain antioxidants; and may lower your blood sugar. So as you can see, mixing the cucumbers in with watermelon is a win win all around.
So now that you know the Benefits of Watermelon and Cucumbers, let’s make a smoothie out of them so you can start a natural detox plus quench your thirst with a glass or two. Enjoy 🙂
