Detox With a Rhubarb Pear Smoothie. Who’d ever dream of a smoothie with Rhubarb? Certainly, not me as rhubarb has got quite a bitterness to it. But if you add some sweetness to the mix, as I did with the pear here, you can still enjoy the health benefits from rhubarb without the tart flavor. And I’ve gotta tell you – this one here pretty much blew me away.

DETOX TO ELIMINATE TOXINS FROM YOUR BODY
Detoxing is said to eliminate toxins from your body, improve health, and promote weight loss. As your body can eliminate toxins on its own through the liver, kidneys, digestive system, skin, and lungs – only when these organs are healthy can they effectively do their jobs to eliminate unwanted substances
Here’s where detoxing smoothies come in. Simply blend up this Rhubarb and Pear Detox Smoothie as it’s filled with nutrients and antioxidants to help your body boost the cleansing process.
INGREDIENT BENEFITS
Rhubarb – the stalks are rich in antioxidants that have anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer properties; are a great source of Vit K and magnesium; are low in saturated fat and sodium, and promotes detoxification and its power of astringency to diminish discharges of mucus or blood
Pears – contains sorbitol, which is a non-digestible form of sugar that can cause a quick bowel movement; also has a high water content which helps keep stools soft and flushes the digestive system of toxins
Strawberries have high levels of vitamin C and help cleanse the body of toxins, are also rich in nutrients and antioxidants which supports a healthy immune system
Coconut Milk – high in potassium, which can flush out excess water from your body
Chia Seeds – they create a gelatinous effect when added to water or digested they cleanse your insides by collecting toxins on their way out
Honey – rich in vitamin C that boosts the immune system; has amino acids, minerals, and vitamins that help in absorption of cholesterol and fat, thereby preventing weight gain and helps remove toxins from the body
Detox with a Rhubarb Pear Smoothie

Ingredients
2 Rhubarb stalks, chopped
1 Pear, seeds removed
1/2 c Strawberries, tops removed
1/2 c Coconut Milk
1 tsp Chia Seeds
1 tsp Honey – Optional
Instructions
Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Add ice for a thicker consistency. If you’re not using a high-powered blender, you can steam the rhubarb stalks first for only 4-5 minutes. Let them cool and then add to your blender with the rest of the ingredients.
