Accountability – Day 35 of the Love Dare
Day 35 – Love Is Accountable
Accountability – Day 35 Of The Love Dare. Seeking and asking for help will strengthen and help your relationship grow with your spouse – it can be the relational influence that takes your marriage from mediocre to amazing.
Day 35 – Love is Accountable
“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”
Proverbs 15:22
THE DARE: Find a marriage mentor. someone who is a strong Christian and who will be honest and loving with you. If you feel that counseling is needed, then take the first step and set up an appointment. During this process, ask God to direct your decisions and discernment.
A couple that faces their problems alone will most likely fall apart when times are rough. But a couple who keeps company with others in strong marriages dramatically increases their chances of getting through these rough times.
SEEK GODLY ADVICE, HEALTHY FRIENDSHIPS, AND CHRISTIAN MENTORS
Couples need godly advice, healthy friendships, and Christian mentors who can share the wisdom they’ve gained through their own successes and failures. They will warn you before a bad decision is made, offer encouragement when you’re ready to give up, and celebrate with you when you reach higher levels of intimacy in your marriage. These are the type of people you need in your life, especially when you feel your marriage is falling apart.
And if your marriage IS falling apart and you feel the only answer is divorce – call your pastor, a Christian counselor, or a marriage ministry asap. Find a person who has the kind of marriage you want, someone whose heart for Christ comes first, and who lives by the unchanging Word of God. Surround yourself with friends who can offer good advice and prayer support. People like this are out there !!
GUARD YOURSELF AGAINST THOSE WHO ARE UNHAPPY
And yes, we all have family, friends, or acquaintances who themselves are unhappy with their marriages … those who may encourage you to leave your spouse in pursuit of your own happiness. Guard yourself against these wrong influences as your marriage is worth all the time you can spend on it and every sacrifice you will make for it.
Everyone needs some wise counseling throughout their life. Food for thought – “wise people constantly seek it and gladly receive it. Fools never ask for it and then ignore it when it’s given to them.” And the Bible clearly says:
“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man is he would listens to counsel”.
Proverbs 12:15
Seeking and asking for help is never a bad thing. There’s no humbling involved, there’s no need to be embarrassed, and it may just help you grow and strengthen your relationship with your spouse. It can be the relational influence that takes your marriage from mediocre to amazing.
