CHAMOMILE SERUM TO CALM IRRITATION
The winter months can lead to dry and irritated skin. Remedy this by using the DIY serum below and put the moisture back into your skin. Warm steam your face first to open your pores, then apply the serum to re-nourish your skin.
Ingredient
6 to 8 cups hot water
1/2 c dried chamomile leaves or 4 chamomile tea bags
1 oz jojoba or argan oil
5 to 7 drops Roman chamomile essential oil
Directions
First fill a bowl with the hot water and chamomile. Drape a towel over your head and lean your face over the bowl. Let the steam open your pores for 5 to 10 minutes. Pat dry your skin. Mix the jojoba and chamomile oils in a small bowl, and then smooth a few drops of the serum onto your skin. Put the remaining serum in a lidded glass jar, and store in a cool, dark place. It will keep up to six months.
LAVENDER TONER TO RENEW YOUR GLOW
When your skin looks radiant, you look younger. So to get that radiance, mist your skin regularly with this DIY toner. The lavender revs circulation for a rosy glow, the jasmine softens, and the green tea prevents age spots.
Ingredients
2 1/2 c water
2 to 3 bags of jasmine green tea
1/2 c dried lavender buds
Directions
Boil the water in a sauce pan. Remove from the heat and add the tea and lavender. Let it steep for 20 minutes. Strain the mixture and let it cool. Then pour it into a spray bottle. Mist onto a freshly cleaned face or spritz a cotton ball and swipe it across your skin.
CUCUMBER BASIL FACE SCRUB TO LOOK YOUNGER
Fine lines and dullness? This facial scrub is all about the basil – the same pigments that give basil its vibrant color will stimulate production of skin-plumping collagen. And the other ingredients are just as beneficial – the cucumber soothes irritation, the sugar removes dead skin cells, and the coconut oil moisturizes. This is the perfect facial scrub – make a batch and see for yourself.
Ingredients
1/3 c white sugar
3/4 c chopped cucumber
large handful fresh basil leaves
1/4 coconut oil
Directions
Put all ingredients in a blender and lightly blitz until smooth. Massage the scrub into damp skin using small, circular motions. Rinse well and pat dry. Follow up with a moisturizer. Use one or twice a week for best results. Any remaining mix can be put in a lidded jar and refrigerated up to 2 weeks.
