20 Basic Items To Have In Your Emergency Kit
What Should Your Emergency Kit Include
20 Basic Items To Have In Your Emergency Kit. Your BASIC HOME EMERGENCY SUPPLY KIT should include items that will equip you with proper supplies like food, water, lights, radio, first aid, shelter, and sanitation. It’s always best to be prepared than to have to scramble if, God forbid, an emergency or a disaster occurs.
So let’s just start by saying I am not one who believes Armageddon is near, the government is coming for us, or “it’s the end of the world as we know it”. Movies like “This is The End, 12 Monkeys and Mad Max” were all entertaining in their own way, but they were just that … ONLY MOVIES. And no, I also do not believe Hollywood is in on the Apocalypse either. So moving forward ….
What Exactly Do We Need To Survive
I do believe bad things happen all over the world, even right here in the US. We have floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornado’s, droughts, fires, and even power loses that have disrupted or ended our perfectly quiet lives … so there is absolutely nothing wrong with being prepared for any natural disaster.
With that being said, what exactly do we need to survive in situations like these?
According to the Red Cross, they recommend you have an emergency kit that supplies you with enough food, water and essentials for a 2 week period. Ordinarily this would not be hard to do. But given what’s happening today with the Coronavirus, some of the “must have items” may be a little scarce to find. Hopefully you already have most of them in your home.
First things first – GET YOURSELF A NICE SIZE BACKPACK. Nope, not going to call it a “bug out bag”, only a regular old backpack !! If you have kids then you should have plenty of them in your home, in which case you may need to use 2 of them.

This is a great list of items for an emergency kit. Thank you! I have been meaning to put together one.
We don’t even have an emergency kit! I know this is wrong and we should definitely have one. Thanks a lot for sharing this, this is very helpful.
It’s so important to be prepared for emergencies, even if we don’t expect the apocalypse. You never know when natural disasters or unexpected situations might occur, and having the right supplies on hand can make a big difference.
